Resilience starts with safe water.

Resilience sometimes starts with something people rarely think about: safe water.

For hospitals, clean and reliable drinking water is often taken for granted. Until it is not.

With the introduction of the Dutch Critical Entities Resilience Act (Wwke), organizations that provide essential societal services are expected to strengthen their preparedness for disruptions and implement measures to ensure the continuity of critical processes. For hospitals, this includes safeguarding the uninterrupted delivery of safe patient care. With this in mind, Amphia Hospital has taken an important next step in microbiological water safety.

In addition to its existing deployment of HW Bifipro, based on copper-silver ionization, Amphia has chosen to implement ultrafiltration on a broader scale using HW ProteQ. This technology acts as an additional physical safety barrier, preventing micro-organisms from reaching the end user.

As a result, microbiological water safety is further enhanced. It also contributes to the resilience of a critical facility that is essential to day-to-day healthcare operations. When the availability of safe water is compromised, the impact on hospital processes can be immediate and far-reaching. By combining preventive treatment with an additional physical layer of protection, Amphia has consciously chosen greater certainty, stronger continuity, and more control.

Amphia Hospital is currently the first hospital in the Netherlands to operationally deploy this combination of copper-silver ionization and large-scale ultrafiltration in this way. A significant step forward. Not because it is required, but because anticipating tomorrow's challenges today lays the foundation for the healthcare of the future.
