Sustainable Housing in Belgium

Upgrade Estate develops and manages sustainable housing for students, young professionals, and companies, focusing on connecting people. They do this under the brand names Upkot, Upliving, and Upoffiz, and distinguish themselves mainly by taking on the daily management. In addition to social and economic sustainability, their ecological sustainability strategy is to be a net-zero carbon organization by 2035.

To achieve zero operational CO2 emissions, they have been focusing on the electrification of their buildings since 2020. Gas boilers are being replaced by heat pumps, and new buildings use only electricity. However, heating with heat pumps also brings challenges. The advantage is that, thanks to the HW Bifipro®, you are legally and safely allowed to heat at low temperatures, as the system prevents legionella. This is how Upgrade Estate came into contact with Holland Water.
