Holland Water Bar serves tap water in the desert
As the world came together for Expo 2020 Dubai, a global celebration of innovation, Holland Water proudly showcased its sustainable water solutions. A significant challenge emerged: ensuring the safety and quality of drinking water for a massive influx of visitors, while simultaneously minimizing the environmental impact of plastic water bottles.
Holland Water tackled this challenge with its advanced HW Bifipro® systems. These innovative systems, which use a safe and proven method called copper-silver ionisation, were strategically installed at 23 locations across the vast Expo site. This technology continuously releases controlled doses of copper and silver ions into the water supply, effectively eliminating harmful bacteria such as Legionella without the need for aggressive chemicals or excessive heat. The result? Clean, safe drinking water available to every Expo visitor.
Beacon of sustainability
But Holland Water’s commitment went beyond mere functionality. In the Dutch pavilion, the Holland Water Bar served as a beacon of sustainability. There, visitors could experience firsthand the quality and taste of tap water treated with the HW Bifipro® system. This innovative approach aimed to change perceptions and promote tap water as a safe and tasty alternative to bottled water, ultimately leading to a significant reduction in plastic waste production.

The success of this collaboration between Holland Water and Expo 2020 Dubai resulted in a win-win situation for all involved. Visitors enjoyed safe, clean drinking water during their Expo experience.
